One year, I went to a MOKB day party that had free tacos and red stripe (there were really only about 50 tacos for everyone) and after the mad dash tacos was over I swear I had the best tacos and beer of my life! Because at SXSW that is all you eat and that is all you want! Trust me. So I recommend this party for those memories alone. But in case my stroll down memory lane isn’t enough to convince you to check out this party this year, look at the lineup! This party takes place over two days Thursday, March 14 and Friday March 15th each from Noon – 8pm at Peckerhead’s (402 E. 6th St)
THURSDAY (3/14) Swear & Shake, Andrew Combs, Criminal Hygiene, Sam Flax, Calvin Love, DWNTWN, God Des & She, K.I.D.S., Jetta, Houndmouth, Futurebirds, Pokey Lafarge
Solid Gold, Monophonics, Cayucas, Lucius, Blackfeet Braves, Suburban Living, Fol Chen, MØ, Wake Owl, Pacific Air, Helado Negro, Teen, Indians, Reignwolf
Pitchfor will be hosting a free day party open to the public on Thursday Match 14. And once you look at the line up you will see I was not lying when i said Thursdays have some of the best parties of the week! This party is a must see for sure. It will reach capcity and as always, get there early. This is a party you won’t want to miss. And yes kids, it is all ages! No RSVP.

Hype Hotel is back for 2013 but with some major changes. Hype Hotel is at a new location: The Whitley (3rd and San Jacinto), and most importantly their night parties are now official parties. That means unlike years past, you will not be able to get into their night events without a badge or wristband (and I am guessing they will reach capacity). But they still have day parties open to those who RSVP starting March 13 through the 16th. This is one of the few events where your RSVP is actually required, so make sure you RSVP. There were some issues with RSVP yesterday but it seems like they have sorted everything out. Full Schedule and Lineups haven’t been annouced, but you can RSVP now, and we will update you when a full schedule is up.
Day Party Hosts (11am -6pm):
March 13: Gorilla vs. Bear/Yourstu.ly
March 14: I Guess I’m Floating/YVYNYL
March 15: Stereogum
March 16: PORTALS
Also they are looking for volunteers so if you live in Austin and want to help out go HERE
Been meaning to post about this party for over a week now. But it is worth the wait, because this party has free food and booze! And we love everything sxsw and free! The line up is pretty solid, some great bands I am really looking forward to seeing. It takes place over two days all afternoon, evening and night at Shiner’s Saloon, 422 Congress Ave. As soon as we have a complete set list we will share it with you. No RSVP needed. Check out the showcase’s music sampler .
Bloodshot records is hosting a day party with pies by Dangerously Delicious Pies and beer Provided by Sam Adams. No wristband, badge, rsvp or invitation required, just get there early.
I loved Bloodshot Record’s take on SXSW, so I had to share
It’s that time again: South by Southwest, Austin TX, March, music, margaritas, corporate sleaze fests trying to out “indie” each other, zombie-like mobs of insensate spring breakers bumping into clutches of jaded industry insiders, “bloggers” sitting on every curb trying to be the first to talk smack about THE NEXT BIG THING and a thousand broken dreams littering 6th Street. And lots of litter littering 6th Street. As Mitch Hedberg used to say, handing out fliers on the street is like saying “here, throw this out for me.”
